Terms of sale

Who you are buying from

Pulsar is designed, built and sold by always.Agog. It is a small operation — one person, small runs, built to order from parts on the shelf. The way to reach a human is contact@alwaysagog.com, and that is the same address for orders, faults and questions.

Prices and payment

• Currency. Every price on the site is in US dollars. Your bank may add its own conversion or foreign-transaction fee if your card is not a US one; that is between you and them and I never see it.
• Tax. No sales tax is added at checkout. If that changes, the cart will show it before you pay.
• Shipping. Postage is charged on top, from $7.99 and never more than $14.99 on an order. The exact amount is shown in the cart before you pay. See shipping and returns for the rates.
• How payment is taken. Payment is processed by Stripe, which is also where a PayPal payment goes through. Your card details are entered on Stripe's own checkout page and never touch this site — I never see or hold a card number.
• What you are charged. The amount is worked out on the server from the current catalogue price and the quantities in your basket. If a price on the page is ever wrong, the order is charged at the correct price or cancelled and refunded — never quietly at the higher one.

Placing an order

• When the sale is made. Placing an order is an offer to buy, and the sale is made when I accept it by dispatching the goods.
• When you are charged. Payment is taken when you place the order, not when it ships. If I cannot fill the order, or I am too late and you would rather not wait, you get all of it back — see the two paragraphs below.
• Stock is genuinely small. Everything is built in runs of a few units. Starting checkout holds your items for 30 minutes so that two people cannot buy the same board; if you do not finish paying in that time the items go back on sale and you can simply start again.
• If something is not there after all. If I cannot fill an order — a part fails testing, a count was wrong — I will email you and refund in full. I would rather cancel than send something I am not happy with.
• Dispatch time. Stocked items go out in 1–3 days. If I cannot manage that I will email you with a revised date and the choice to accept it or cancel for a prompt full refund. Anything marked pre-order is not on the shelf yet and has no estimated ship date. You may cancel for a prompt full refund any time before it ships.
• Cancelling before dispatch. Email me before it ships and I will cancel and refund it, no reason needed. After it ships it becomes a return — see below.

What you are actually buying

• Complete Controllers are built around used hardware. Original Dreamcast controllers have not been manufactured in decades, so the donor controller in an assembled unit is gently used and will show it. The Pulsar board, cell and shell fitted to it are new.
• Shells are 3D printed. Printed to order, in the colour you choose. Layer lines and small cosmetic variation between prints are normal and are not a fault.
• The design is open. The project is GPL-3.0 and the 3D files are public, so you are free to print your own shell, read the firmware, or repair what you bought. Updating the firmware yourself at /update is expected, not a warranty problem.

Returns

30 days from delivery, for any reason including changing your mind. The full terms — what condition it needs to be in, who pays the return postage, and what to do if something arrives wrong — are on shipping and returns, and those terms are part of these ones.

Changes to these terms

The terms that apply to your order are the ones published when you placed it. If these change, the date at the bottom of the page changes with them.
